[edit] Hero/Fate/(Luck) Points

Each party member starts out with 5 points at character creation. These points can be used to modify almost any roll. Two points gets rid of a critical failure (it still fails). You can acquire hero points by doing really heroic, self-sacrificing deeds. Depending on the situation, I may also give a hero point for a role of a natural '3'.

3 points can be spent to reroll

They work like luck points. However, once used, they never return.

[edit] Great/Terrible Rolls

In combat:

  • A roll of a natural 3 is a critical hit. Max damage.
  • A roll of a natural 4 is most likely always a hit.
  • If a to-hit roll is made by 5 or more points, you may choose one of the following (but the decision has to be made before any further dice is rolled):
    • You can effect the hit-location by +/- 1.
    • You can re-roll a damage die.
  • If a to-hit roll is made by 10 or more points, you may choose one of the following (but the decision has to be made before any further dice is rolled):
    • Any combination of 2 things as if you made the roll by 5.
    • they can roll the hit-location and get max damage.
  • A roll of a natural 17 is most likely always a miss.
  • A roll of a natural 18 is a critical failure. Things break, you injure your friend/ally, etc....

Out of combat:

  • A roll of a natural 3 is a critical success. As a test, the character gets +1 point to apply to the skill or skill levels.
  • A roll of a natural 18 is a critical failure. Tools break, you give yourself and others food poisoning, you injure your horse, etc....

[edit] Sleeping in Armor

Characters are allowed to sleep with armor on, however, they will have to roll the following morning to see how much LTE they expend for this advantage (represents a restless night:

  • Armor 0-1 : no penalty
  • Armor 2-3 : 1d6 LTE
  • Armor 4-5 : 2d6 LTE
  • Armor 6-7 : 3d6 LTE
  • Armor 8 : 4d6 LTE

An armorsmith roll at -4 can be used to move up one level on the chart. -4 to go up one level, -8 to go up two levels, etc.
